Coding and Robotics

Congratulations to James Brown-Bayliss, Thomas Bloxham and Alexander Buys who have been working on building this robot since the beginning of Term 1.

During the time it took them to build the robot, they followed a step-by-step process guided by Mr Luzak.

Meccanoid, this amazing robot, follows voice commands, gives instructions, tells you how to operate him and has motors that enable some free movement. For example, the shoulder joint allows full rotation. He walks, turns and the boys have even given him good dance moves. The students have learnt about programming and engineering.

Coding and programming are becoming an increasingly important focus of our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) programme.

When the boys aren't working on Meccanoid, he has pride of place in the principal's office.
