Welcome from our Principal

It is my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to our school community.  As the Principal, I am excited and honoured to lead Howick Intermediate where academic excellence, character development, and wellbeing are at the core of everything we do.  Our vision is to be ‘a school of excellence where every person is enabled to succeed in a safe, happy, and stimulating environment.’

At Howick Intermediate we believe in fostering an inclusive, supportive environment where every individual is valued and respected.  We want our students, families, and whānau to feel a sense of belonging at Howick.

We say: ‘At Howick, we thrive on PRAISE’ - Perseverance, Respect, Attitude, Integrity, Service and Excellence. Our school culture is based on these values. We have a clear graduate profile which includes the attributes that we work to develop in our students.

Our school has a rich, engaging curriculum. We work in a digital environment where students use technology to enhance their thinking and learning.  A point of difference for intermediate schools is their specialist programmes. At Howick we have the following specialist subjects; Performing and Visual Arts, Ahaua Ako (innovation and design), Food Technology and Hospitality and Science

We acknowledge our long tradition of academic achievement and extracurricular excellence.  Whether it’s in the classroom, on the playing field, or through various cultural activities, our students have numerous opportunities to explore their interests and develop their talents, and build meaningful relationships with their peers and staff.

We are proud of our school with its dedicated high-calibre staff.  We value our partnership with parents and whānau and are committed to working with you to ensure the best outcomes for our students. Our parents, whānau, and community are welcome in our school and we actively encourage involvement in our students' school life.

We look forward to a positive and happy association with you, your child, and your whānau.

He waka eke noa - We are all in this together!
