East Auckland Intermediate Chess Championships

We entered 4 teams into the East Auckland Intermediate Chess Championships.  Playing in a chess tournament was a new experience for these 17 students.

These chess players used their problem solving skills as they decided which pieces they should move to yield the best results on the board. They kept calm under pressure and exercised the virtue of patience as they stayed focus while waiting for their opponent to take their turn and avoided rushing games.

The experience for these students gave an insight into the creative thinking required as students understood how they need to imagine what will happen with each possible move on the board and then quickly come up with new strategies on the fly.

Thanks to the parent volunteers for supporting the players.
