Uniform & Stationery

Uniform

From Term 1 2016 all new students are required to wear our new school uniform. Articles are supplied by John Russell Menswear in Howick and will be available from mid-January 2016 (pre-orders are available). We take a good deal of pride in the presentation of students at Howick and appreciate your support in helping us to maintain the high standards that have been established.

  • Footwear

For summer (Term 1 and 4) students wear plain, flat black school sandals. For winter (Term 2 and 3), students wear leather lace-up school shoes (no sports or skate style shoes for boys and no flat pump/ballet/slip on style shoes for girls). In winter, girls wear long, knee length white socks and boys wear long, grey knee length socks with gold and burgundy stripes. Socks are expected to be worn pulled up.

  • Jewellery

A reminder that our policy stipulates one small plain stud in each ear lobe. Other body piercing is not accepted unless for genuine religious or cultural reasons. A wristwatch may be worn.

  • Hair Styling

Hair styling products, unnatural hair colour or styles, or extreme colouring or streaks and patches of colour, are not permitted. Hair over the collar or longer is expected to be tied back. Hair ties should be black, white or burgundy.

  • Make Up

Cosmetics are not to be worn to school.

  • Hats

Wearing the school hat is compulsory during Term 1 and 4.

  • School Jacket

The school jacket is an optional uniform item. It may be purchased to provide additional warmth when students are outdoors. Jackets can be purchased through the school at a cost of $102.00 each.  Order forms can be collected from the office or downloaded here.

Stationery

Stationery packs are available from Crandall Peters Paper Plus in Howick from mid-January. Please have stationery named and books covered, ready for use on day one.
