Koanga Festival

12 proud Kapa Haka students from Howick Intermediate School performed amazingly at the Koanga Festival on Saturday 17th of September at Bucklands Beach Intermediate School.

Numerous schools participated throughout the day and our students were greeted and welcomed by MCs, many parents, audience and school staff. Although we were nervous at the beginning we encouraged each other to enjoy dancing, singing and Haka on the stage. We successfully finished our performance with a huge clap and smiles from the audience. We gave our Koha, made by Simone Van Der Westhuizen and Mrs Hewlett, Art teacher, to the MCs, and in return a plant of grace. We would like to thank our tutors: Hemi and Sheryn for teaching us Maori culture and language, our teachers: Mrs Baleicakau and Mrs Lim for us being prepared for all events in and out of the school, school staff: Mrs Franke, Miss De Villiers, Mrs Hensley, Mrs Kaw for cheering us to be our best and finally our parents for helping us with costumes in the morning. We will remember this moment that we shared together. Tino Pai Team!
