AIMS Games 2017

In September we have the awesome opportunity to send a group of talented athletes to Tauranga to compete in the annual, week-long AIMS Games tournament.

The competition is fierce as there are thousands of intermediate students competing in their various sporting codes for the top spots. It is a fantastic experience and the athletes not only get to showcase their skills, but they learn about sportsmanship and networking with students from all over the country and beyond.

This year we are hoping that the teams we send down to the AIMS Games will be bigger and even more competitive than last year. The teams that we are hoping to send down this year are:

Boys Rugby Sevens
Boys Football
Girls Futsal
Girls Netball
Boys Basketball
Mixed Hockey

We also have some individual athletes that are looking to take part in cross country, swimming and sailing.

Students have had the opportunity to register their interest this week and trials will begin next week for the teams. As AIMS Games comes at a huge cost to parents, the students selected will not necessarily be the same as the teams we take to South Eastern Zone. Parents will need to be aware of the cost and endorse their child's participation in trials. This has been communicated with the students at school, but please have this conversation with them so that they are not disappointed if they are selected and aren't able to go due to affordability. However, we want to reassure you that there will be a separate, fair trial for South Eastern Zone teams so that all students have the opportunity to represent the school.

Parent support is fundamental in the success of this group so if you are interested in coaching or managing a team, or can support with fundraising or sponsorship, then please contact Amanda Johns on .

We are getting very excited already and can't wait to get training underway!
